Every crop has a story to tell. Locked away in every kilogram of grain is a record that spells out the effectiveness of different tillage practices the need for improved drainage, additional nutrient requirements, the impact of chemical over or under application, and much more.
Booth Technology's precision farming knowledge is the key that unlocks that information.
Precision faming is quite simply farming areas less than the size of a whole paddock in order to improve profitability. Using precision farming software and hardware, farmers can collect a huge amount of information about paddock performance at very little cost.
For any precision farming system to be successful in Australia, Booth Technology recognised that it must do more than just take components 'off the shelf from other countries'. It is essential to have software that is purpose designed to suit Australian farming practices. It is also essential that all components integrate together and that farmers can both contribute to the continuing evolution of these components and obtain a high level of ongoing support. Booth Technology has achieved all of this through co: operation with its industry partners.
The key components of precision farming
Here at Booth Technology we can source and supply a large range of precision farming equipment such as yield monitors, GPS equipment, hand held receivers, auto steer systems, and variable rate applicators.
Because we aren't tied to any particular provider we can give you an independent opinion on all Precision Farming equipment.
PAM QA+ FarmSTAR : Precision Farming Software
PAM QA+ FarmSTAR designed and developed by Fairport Technologies International is the first totally Australian precision farming software package. It includes well known PAM QA+ and PAM Mapping. PAM QA+ FarmSTAR provides a complete software tool for paddock management, farm mapping, management of yield and other GPS based data. PAM QA+ FarmSTAR has been developed 'real: time' in an actual precision farming situation. Soil maps, site: specific grid and standard soil sampling, nutrient data, pH data, satellite imagery, lime and gypsum area selection and soil type response to fertiliser rate sites have all been processed and displayed using FarmSTAR. Yield Monitors
Yield monitors allow the collection of yield data on: the: go which can be used to produce a yield map. Areas of low yield are then easily identified, and using suitable equipment can be inspected and tested to decide how to improve yield and/or profitability.
Variable Rate Applicator
The major possible addition is Variable Rate Technology (VRT) where the rate of input can be varied automatically on: the: go. A logger can be used to mark out areas where different inputs such as trace elements, lime etc. are required, with these inputs being applied with conventional equipment, in all likelihood already owned by the farmer.
Your Home Computer
This is perhaps the most overlooked piece of equipment in the setup. Your home computer must be able to accept Yield Monitor Cards and handle farm mapping. Booth Technology can modify your current machine or replace the computer to get it up to speed.
